Small craft designer Don Kurylko grew up building, repairing, and sailing small boats near British Columbia's Strait of Georgia, a region known for its rugged shoreline and challenging weather. Don's experience sailing the Northwest shows in his work. His designs build on the beauty, stability and speed of the classics, but include features so important to today's weekend adventurer. Features like: portability, ease of repair and maintenance, simple modern construction, alternative forms of propulsion, wide sacrificial keels, built-in flotation, accessible stowage, simple yet flexible sail plans, integrated boom tents, and wide comfortable sleeping areas available for the weary both underway and in port.

Don has since moved inland to pursue building his dream, the 34' gaff rigged cutter pictured below. In his off-time, he enjoys sailing on Kootenay Lake and mountain biking on the local trails near his home in Nelson, B.C.

Don provides consultation with his building plans at no extra cost. If you have any questions, or require further information, please feel free to contact him. He can usually be reached by phone most days or evenings, as well as by e-mail or regular post.
